A frame that has moved out of square, a unit damaged before it reached the opening, or a manufacturer decision to replace rather than repair all call for the whole unit to come out. Those jobs are dispatched the same way as any other: the manufacturer directs the scope, UTS validates it, and a contractor qualified for that product performs the work with the same documentation requirements attached. ## The install is documented like a claim An installation carried out under a warranty program is still a warranty record. Condition on arrival, the work performed, the materials used and the finished result are photographed and reported, and the file goes to the manufacturer the same way a repair file does. That matters more on an installation than on a component swap, because an install defect that surfaces two years later is exactly the sort of claim that turns on whether anyone documented the original fit. ## What UTS does not do UTS performs component-level and unit-level work within a defined scope. It does not carry out engineering evaluation, design analysis or structural assessment, and it does not take responsibility for the design or performance of a finished wall assembly incorporating a manufacturer's product. Those boundaries are set in the agreement with every manufacturer, and stating them up front is more useful to a warranty director than implying the scope is unlimited. Both, but the balance is heavily toward repair. The everyday work is component-level — glass units, sash, hardware, weatherstripping. Full unit installation is performed when a manufacturer or builder directs it, typically where the remedy is a replacement rather than a repair, or where a unit arrived damaged. ### Who decides whether a unit is repaired or replaced? The manufacturer, on a warranty claim. UTS inspects and documents the failure without bias and reports what was found; the remedy is the manufacturer's call.
